Morocco

The Context
Morocco, known for its rich history, diverse culture, and stunning landscapes, has made significant educational strides. Recent reforms have focused on expanding access, improving quality, and aligning education with the needs of its growing economy.

As of the 2023-2024 school year, preschool enrollment reached 78.7%, highlighting the government’s commitment to early childhood education. Significant financial support, including €134.7 million from the French Development Agency in 2024, is facilitating the reforms outlined in the 2022-2026 roadmap. Efforts also address learning poverty, which affects 64.9% of young children and aim to reduce rural dropout rates driven by poverty and cultural barriers.

Despite these advances, challenges remain. Many students still lack basic literacy skills, and the education system struggles to meet workforce demands. Morocco is dedicated to ongoing reforms to ensure that all students acquire the skills and knowledge necessary for higher education and employment.

ST Foundation’s Presence
The ST Foundation launched the DU Program in 2004 with a mission to contribute to Morocco’s development through education. A key partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sport expanded our reach and deepened our impact.

By May 2015, the program had reached a significant milestone: 100,000 beneficiaries. This accomplishment was celebrated with a special event at the ST site in Bouskoura, near Casablanca, highlighting our growing regional influence. All the details are available in the dedicated section.

Our commitment to improving the program has led to several impactful initiatives, including refurbishing DU labs and organizing unique summer camps. These camps, a cornerstone of our approach, provide quality education to economically disadvantaged children. Last summer alone, 12,500 participants benefited from engaging activities led by 45 dedicated teachers. Spanning 17 cities, these camps foster personal and social growth in a dynamic and supportive environment.

As end of December 2024, the DU Program has trained over 240,000 beneficiaries, reflecting our sustained efforts to close the digital divide and enhance educational opportunities. This ongoing dedication underscores our commitment to creating a meaningful impact for the communities we serve.
